I would love to become a teacher, preferably of the elementary grade. I love teaching and guiding and adults, specifically teachers, have been such a huge part of my life. I would make a good candidate for any team because I am a great team player, I listen to coaches or teammates advice, and I am open to criticism and any and all help I can get to become a better player. I am a straight A student and I put a lot of effort into all of my assignments. I do not postpone my work to the last second; I prefer to get it done as soon as possible. I have had experience in basketball however, I will admit, I have not had as much as others. I have been playing for three years now and I'm improving as much as I can. I have improved immensely thanks to all of my coaches and my dad. I try to practice as often as I can, even working on things I am steadily improving on. I am a naturally bright and positive girl and I hope to bring some joy wherever and whenever I can. I also hold high standards for myself. My parents are fully supportive in whatever I do, however my goals, aspirations, and achievements are completely by choice. I hope to be considered by any college!

Dear Prospective College Coaches:
My name is Nancy Roberts and recently I had the pleasure of being a youth basketball coach for
a girls youth basketball team where I had a young lady on my team named Aubrey Tomlinson.
From day one I knew that Aubrey was going to be a leader on the team as she took charge in
encouraging her teammates and assisted in showing them ways to improve, when needed.
Aubrey was always attentive and took every opportunity to improve herself both during and
outside of practice. Aubrey is a coaches dream player due to her high level of coachability,
positive response to criticism, and encouraging demeanor.
To give some credibility on my competence to accurately evaluate Aubrey on not only her
basketball skills, but on her leadership abilities, I will briefly explain my background. I played
College basketball myself and then went on to coach high school basketball for a few years
before becoming a police officer. I am now a Lieutenant in the police force in Northern Arizona
where one of my essential job responsibilities is the identification, mentorship, and development
of future leaders within the organization. I also teach courses that assist with the development of
leaders in law enforcement. I recently began coaching youth basketball through the YMCA as
means to not only develop young athletes, but to hopefully impart imperative life-skills that are
lacking in various aspects of our youth at a growing rate.
With Aubrey it was obvious the first time I met her that her parents did an exceptional job of
instilling these often overlooked characteristics of dedication, hard work, a coachable attitude,
and leadership within Aubrey. Aubrey has a natural athletic ability and her level of basketball
skills at only 13 years old shows the hard work she has put in. I am excited to see her play the
next four years in High School and have no doubts she will grow by leaps and bounds as she
prepares to be, at minimum, a college basketball player.
If I can offer any additional information, please do not hesitate to let me know.
Sincerely,
Nancy Roberts
