I come from a family that has taught me that hard work and following through on what ever I begin is important. I have worked hard throughout my academic years and I am a dual athlete. I love basketball but I also am on the varsity track team. I believe in myself and what I can accomplish and I want to continue the legacy of my family which is to achieve my highest level of excellence in anything that I do. I believe in helping others and that is why my church youth activities play a major role in my life. Going on mission trips have taught me to be a leader and how to work with a team. To make myself a better player, as well as a better person, I always listen to anything that someone has to say. I would say that listening is a big part in what my family teaches and stands for as well. I have gone on many team camps that have put me in the leadership role and that has helped me as a person. I have had to make decisions in my basketball career that show that I am a team player and don't leave my teammates behind. A team for me is like a second family. Thats why I always try my personal best, so I don't let my teammates down. This is something that I have used throughout my life, including in school. If I see myself starting to slack off or give up on things on school work, I push myself to put in that extra schoolwork and to stay caught up, not behind.
