My name is Melina M. Bobadilla from Salida, California. I play on my high school team, Joseph A. Gregori High School and I consider myself to be a fast, smart, and strong athlete.
Just to tell you a little bit about myself. I am a 1 and 2 Guard on my school and travel team. My experience on Gregori's team has been the best. Since the establishment of Gregori High School in 2010, our Basketball program has been very successful. Just being our third year open as a high school and our second year with a varsity program, I have been apart of two undefeated seasons, two MMC league championships, and two rounds of CIF Section Playoffs. My travel Basketball experience has been very successful as well, since my team Stanco Stampede has participated in several showcase tournaments in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, etc. As a team and individually, I have also participated in basketball college, exposure, and skill camps. A few camps include San Francisco State Camp, Nike Camp, and Pass Tha Ball Exposure Camp. I have also received several academic, All league, and team awards mentioned in my resume below. I have a very strong work ethic and I like to motivate, communicate, and encourage my teammates, as well as lead them. The biggest contributions I provide to my team, is the guidance for my teammates and the defensive and offensive help. I like to inspire confidence to all of my teammates despite the player. In addition, I enjoy being "that player" that coaches and players rely on for defensive and offensive help.
As a student, I am first generation Mexican-American aspiring to continue my education and basketball career on a collegiate level. I currently have a 4.34 GPA and scored a 1340 out of 2400 on my SATs. I plan on retaking the SAT on October 5 and November 2. My goal is a score of 1480. I will also be taking the ACT on September 8 and October 27. In addition, since my dream career is in the medical field as a Pediatrician, I am currently a volunteer/assistant with Dr. Bob Peterson MD. Volunteering with Dr. Bob Peterson has really given me a tremendous insight of my desired field of study. Working with Dr. Bob Peterson has really kindled my desire of helping children and parents who are in need of help and care. In order to prepare myself for my desired field of study in college, I have been taking rigorous AP and Pre- AP courses since my Freshman year. Although I am an Honors student, my academic strengths are in definitely in math and science.
Some of my upcoming plans are to continue to practice basketball and play basketball in showcase tournaments and camps. My goals, are to have the opportunity of receiving a Basketball and/or an Academic scholarship and to pursue my dreams of playing basketball in college.
