Personal Statement
Hi, my name is Faith Williams and I am a senior at Santa Clara High School in Oxnard California. I have been playing varsity basketball as a starter at Santa Clara since my freshmen year and I was named captain my junior year. In my years of playing basketball at Santa Clara, I have received 2nd team all league (freshmen year), co-MVP (freshmen year), 1st team all league (sophomore year), coaches award (sophomore year), 1st team all league (junior year), 2nd team all county (junior year), 2nd team all CIF (junior year), athlete of the week (junior year), all conference (junior year), and MVP (junior year). We play in the tri- valley league and I often get matched up against some of the best players on the teams that we play. I have attended a handful of camps throughout the years and I also play club basketball during the summer. I have been playing AAU basketball since the 6th grade and recently this summer I got the chance to play with the club Cal Storm/ Team Taurasi. I am a very serious student-athlete and I will put in the extra time to make sure my grades are high enough for me to play basketball. I am not 100% sure on my major but it will likely be something like Education or Communications. I have a great support system made up of friends and family and that is important to me. I am a member of the National Honors Society and the National Society of High School Scholars. I also take great joy in giving back to the basketball community. I volunteered to help my dad's AAU team and help the kids become better student-athletes. I also help out at the camps that my school's varsity girls basketball team puts on every summer. I plan to consider colleges that are a good match for me in academics and in athletics. As I said before I am a very serious student-athlete and I am dedicated to my school work just as much as I am to basketball. I know that academics come first before anything and that is why I strive to be the best student-athlete I can be. Thank you for taking the time to get to know me!
