Personal Statement
I fell in love with basketball as soon as I started playing it in second grade. At the time, I lived in England, and once I moved to the US, I saw the competitiveness of the sport, and I formed my goal to play basketball in college. Ever since then I have strived to achieve this goal with everything I do, while becoming a better player and person. I am very devoted to this sport, as shown how I help coach the middle school girls' basketball team, scoreboard, and more.
My devotion to basketball carries over to my academics as I always try to challenge myself. I am currently taking five AP classes, while doing SAT/ACT preparation, and although very challenging, these help me learn how to time manage while playing basketball and they are very worth it.
Last season, my high school team lost the CIF D1 championship by one point. This was very upsetting and a set back for the team, however we are coming back better than ever. I have learned that moments like this loss and obstacles happen only to make you stronger and it did just that. This season I have become a captain on the team, and I can really help guide the team as I have a different mindset to the game as I don't just play it, I study it.
As a player, I feel that I am unique in that I love to pass. I really value assists and my strong suit is getting into the lane, which can allow me to make plays by passing out, or just going up. I really study the game, and my goal to play in college is so I can continue playing the game I love as long as I can, and to continuously improve.
