Personal Statement
Being the middle child of seven children has it's benefits and challenges. However, it taught me to be a part of a larger team from an early age, and that sometimes you have to fill different roles at different times. This has proven to be a valuable lesson on the basketball court! At times I need to be a scorer. At times I need to be a physical presence in the middle, demanding rebounds and blocking shots. At times I need to be the vocal one, bringing more out of my teammates. I enjoy filling the role that is needed and being both a leader by example and by word. And, even through adversity (I dealt with a stress fracture for the latter half of my sophomore year) my role on a team is ALWAYS important and I can ALWAYS contribute! This is what I want to continue at the college level!
I believe that soccer and basketball are complimentary sports. They require vision, movement off the ball and tenacity on the ball. My passion for sports started on the soccer field, but has grown to new heights on the basketball court! I love competition and the feeling of being a member of a team with a common goal! I bring energy, commitment and focus to the court and require the same from my teammates. I am looking for a program that will allow me to flourish both athletically and academically. I believe I can bring a never-quit attitude, a strong character, and a charismatic leadership style that will have a positive impact on your team and program. I know that I will be successful on and off the court at the collegiate level.
