I think the most important characteristics for an athlete are determination and adaptability; fortunately, I believe those to be a few of my strongest traits. One time during my club season of 2014 I was moved up to higher team right before a significant tournament in Portland and Chicago. Although it was still within my club, this team had a few different plays than I was used to, and I had to learn all of them in one practice. After that night the coach came up to me and told me how impressed she was with my performance, especially how I learned the plays and team dynamic so quickly. This was the first time I realized that I was an adaptable player; the skill of adjusting to new situations has helped me play my game and excel in any situation, on any team, or in any position.
I attribute part of my ability to be comfortable at any time to my deep determination. I refuse to let myself slip below my own high standards, and it often results in early mornings in the gym by myself in order to get to where I want to be. My conviction has gotten me to where I am now, and I know it will help me reach new highs in the future.
