McKenna Finken '18 Recruiting Profile

As a 5'10" power forward playing for Simsbury High School in Simsbury, CT and graduating in 2018, I am looking for an institution with strong academic and basketball programs that will develop me both intellectually and physically. I am a two year starter on the SHS varsity team and have a 3.65 GPA, which exemplifies how I challenge myself to continuously improve and work hard both in the classroom and on the court. These skills have helped me and my team qualify for the CT State Tournament in my first two years and also allowed me to be one of two players cited by my HS coach as a freshman: "two players have defined playing hard for me...they have helped me learn what playing hard really means: 110% effort on every second of every possession, playing with a level of intensity that is noticed by everyone in the gym, immersing your mind, body and heart completely into every play of the game."

Although I am undecided major, I am seeking a medium to large size school (but open to all schools) that will allow me to explore new education opportunities both in the liberal arts and sciences. My strong work ethic and desire to make my team better have set me apart (both in AAU and HS). My strength, versatility, and knowledge as a basketball player enable me to take on and play any role my team requires. Schools that have a strong team culture and tight knit team would be ideal for me. I am committed to working extra hard to earn minutes as a freshmen.
