I look at my life and see that in my journey I have never been alone. I’ve always had support from my family, my friends and my coaches. I am constantly striving to get better and to excel at everything I do whether academically or athletically. I’ve had a lifelong desire to play NCAA basketball and it is something I told my parents from a very early age.
I remember when I first wanted to play sports. I was five years old and told my mom that there were holding tryouts for volleyball and basketball. I was given a choice as to which sport I wanted. I also remember wanting to play both. But I found my calling in basketball.
Education is very important for the future. My goal is to be able to play basketball at a collegiate level and be able to get an education. It’s the best of both worlds. I want to make a difference wherever I go to play as well as make an impact on the lives of other young children who want to play sports or get an education. As a student-athlete I have a responsibility to help in any way possible to shape the future of our country in a positive way.
Being a student-athlete in high school is challenging because I’m creating a work ethic that will help me when I am in college and be able to handle my responsibilities academically and athletically. I moved to Miami in 2014 for my freshman year to pursue my goal of playing NCAA basketball having made the varsity team. Currently I am a junior and thus far have a 3.3 GPA and I’m the starting point guard for the John A Ferguson Lady Falcons Varsity Basketball team.
