Personal Statement

Let me tell you about all my goals and accomplishments from the past three years in high school...

As a freshman, I was living in a small town called Petaluma in California. I played two sports, basketball and softball. In both basketball and softball I made varsity as a freshman and started for both sports. I loved softball, but my true passion and love is basketball. I worked everyday during season and off season to get better and the hard work started to pay off. At the end of the year I received best defensive player and coaches award. I was very thankful and happy to play on a team that was family and who all loved the game.

Starting my second year of basketball as a sophomore was incredible. My team was amazing and very supportive. My sophomore season I averaged 13 points a game and played aggressive as a defensive player. My coach, Doug Johnson, is a very smart person both on the court and off. He has really helped me understand the mental side of the game.  Every game I make goals and try to accomplish them.

My junior year wasn't my best year. I have recently just moved to a new town called Buford in Georgia and started playing basketball at Buford High School. There my coach is named Gene Durden who I have so much respect for. This past season he has taught me so many different parts about the game and also in life. He has taught me to work through tough situations and how to be mentally and physically tough. He has also taught me to play at a much faster pace of the game. This season has taught me many new aspects of the game. Even though it was a challenging transition I learned to work through it and get better as a player. As a team we won the Big Red Shootout championship, we won team of the year, Region Champs, and was state runner-up for the state of Georgia. It was one incredible season with amazing teammates.

This upcoming season as a senior will be the best season yet. I'm excited to play this season and our main goal is to win the state championship and to be better than last year.

My number one goal after high school is to attend a highly regarded Academic College on the East Coast. I would like to play basketball in college, but my main priority when picking a college is based on the best possible academics. Education always comes first and I want to go to a college that is best fit for my field of study.
