Personal Statement
Coaches almost always comment on my length. I use this length, along with my speed and footwork, to be a disruptive defender. I turn defense into offense for my team with blocks, deflections and steals. I move well off the ball, especially in running the court. My teammates can always find me up top in the transition game for the easy lay-up and count on me to get back to defend another team's fast break. I have developed my outside shooting game to complement my mid-range and inside game. I have good court awareness that allows me to make good passes and consistently hit the cutter. Currently I play a three or four position, but I am continuing to develop my ball handling skills in anticipation of potentially playing a two at the next level.
I also compete in track and field for Wesleyan school. I am a two-time state champion, as part of the 4 x 400 relay, and a school record holder in both the 4 x 400 and 4 x 100 relay. Individually, I have earned a state medal four times, including a state-runner up in high jump. In addition to track in the spring, I also play on Wesleyan’s Varsity soccer team. Although I love to compete in track and soccer, basketball is my passion.
I also compete in the classroom. I currently have a 4.05 and have a rigorous academic load that includes AP and Honors courses.
I want to attend a school that allows me to play a high caliber of basketball while also being challenged academically. I am looking for a Top 100 academically ranked university that offers a Division 1 basketball program.
