Hi I am Jordyn Haxby from Chubbuck Idaho. I am now a senior at Blackfoot High School in Blackfoot Idaho and hold a 3.7 GPA. I have had an intense passion for Basketball since about sixth grade. I have attended hoops academy in Pocatello an AAU club where they have pushed me to improve my basketball skills. My varsity playing time is limited due to an accident during the summer of 2015 and transferring high schools my junior year. In 2015 I was run over by a tractor, breaking my pelvis, and, in a wheelchair for nearly five months. Not only did I question my ability to play basketball again, but I questioned if I would be able to do anything normal. The chiropractors and physical therapists that helped me rehabilitate and regain all mobility, started a fire within me that was fueled by the desire to play again. Their help and encouragement has made me want to join the medical field, specializing in physical therapy and rehabilitation. My accident has not only made me physically stronger, but mentally as well. Overcoming the fear that I would not be as quick or talented as before has given me the ability to challenge myself and have the confidence that I can do anything I put my mind to. After recovering I played a mix of JV and varsity my sophomore year, coaches, didn't want to see me reagrivate the injury. In the fall of 2016 I transferred to Blackfoot High School and the AD from the previous high school would not sign the waiver to allow me to play on the varsity team at Blackfoot. I have and will continue to be driven by knowing that hard work and dedication pays off. I would love to have the opportunity to continue to compete in basketball while earning a degree.
