Personal Statement
Basketball is my passion. I have loved playing basketball since I was very young. I grew up playing basketball in the driveway with my brother and watching it on TV with my Dad. I always loved going to camps and learning from different coaches and players. I have moved 3 times since grade school; New York, Cincinnati and Chicago and that has made me mentally stronger and more adaptable to different situations, Whether it be on the court in pressure situations, dealing with a new team or new faces in the hallways of my schools I am always smiling and trying to help make the situation better and a winning one! In middle school I was awarded the Outstanding Athlete of the school, voted on by my teams and the coaches. Now I am the starting Center on my High School team,Lyons Township ( 4,000 students) in La Grange, Illinois. I feel great and confident to lead my team with my 6'0 ft.vison on the court. I look forward to working hard to help my team win sectionals next year! I had a standout game this past year with 14 points and 8 rebounds. Love it when the team chemistry works hard with all the players and our plays succeed. I work very hard at practice and like to lead my peers. I want to continue my basketball career in college because I love the sport, love to win and will never give up!! I have been on the Honor Roll for all 5 semesters at my school. I participate in peer leadership programs, I'm in the Spanish Honor Society, and I am involved in the "Snowball teen retreat program at my school. Outside of school I am in a youth group with my church and I babysit and work at youth basketball camps in the summer. I enjoy listening to music and going to concerts. Art and photography have always been my hobbies. I'm super organized and like to have a plan for everyday to accomplish something positive!! I hope to someday be a sports journalist.
