Laurel Kucharski '17 Recruiting Profile

I love the game of basketball and I definitely want to play at the college level.  I am looking for a team that I can give my all. A major part of my beliefs center around one word...respect!  I respect the game, I respect the coaches, I respect the referees and I respect my fellow players!  I fell in love with this game in 5th grade.  In 6th grade I started training with AAU travel teams.  I had the privilege to play with an AAU team in 8th grade that played nationally at the 16u level which provided me with excellent competition at a young age.  Freshman year I made Varsity at Lockport Township High School and was a starter my freshman, sophomore and Junior years. I feel the opportunity to start on Varsity since freshman year gives me a stronger foundation for future play.  I was also named Captain my Junior year and love the leadership responsibility.

I think what makes me different is that I am a multidimensional player who is equally effective facing or with my back to the basket.  In grade school and freshman year I continued to train as a forward and post.  My freshman year into sophomore year I committed myself to extensive training in ball handling and outside shooting handles and have grown into the guard position. I understand all positions and have been called to play all 5 positions at various times. 

Academics and leadership are extremely important to me.  I currently have a 3.7 GPA, I have been on the Honor Roll every semester of High School and was recently inducted into the National Honor Society as a Junior.

This is an exciting time for me, I can't wait to see where my college experience will unfold.
