Welcome to my profile! Very much appreciate you taking the interest in learning more about what makes Brooke Silva strive for excellence on and off the court. First and foremost, I was taught at a very young age by my parents, to put forth my best effort in everything I do from academics, athletics, friendships, and religion. Therefore, my focus in practices, games, and in the classroom is being the old cliché, "the hardest worker in the room", and there is no such thing as taking drills or possessions off. This level of day in and day out effort has allowed me to have great endurance, which helps me play my hardest both defensively and offensively all throughout my games, whether that be basketball or soccer. As for other qualities, I listen, I do what I am asked to do, and I consider myself to be a leader by example, not by communication, as I have more of a quiet personality, but my coaching staff is working on improving my communication.
As for my basketball skills, I consider myself to be quick, athletic, and versatile in terms of positions. I have played point guard through power forward positions, and have good handles, great vision, and spot on passing abilities over short and long distances. I am a multi-level scorer, who doesn’t prefer one level over the other, but I have a very good 3 point (PB: 40 out of 50 attempts) and midrange game, as well as an array of finishes around the hoop, or good elevation to finish high and over the top of lengthy defenders. My dad, also a coach, always taught me to be a “Stat Sheet Stuffer” and to pride myself on being the best offensive player and defensive player. So I have always focused my game plan on contributing in every way possible through scoring, rebounding, assisting, stealing, blocking, shooting %, and overall efficiency while guarding the other teams best player. That mentality has helped me be in the top 3 of all those categories on club teams and my varsity team, if not leading them as a freshman, but most importantly in helping my team and teammates succeed. I compare myself to Iowa Hawkeyes Kate Martin "THE GLUE" and willing to do whatever it takes.
As for me and what am I looking for over the next several years as a 2027 athlete. For one, a little bit of growth in height and strength, and then there is more yet to learn about the game, as well as improvement in my overall skillset, and with good work ethic I aim to increase my ceiling and hopefully exceed it. Winning some Titles would be nice as well. Thank you again for your interest and best of luck to you and your teams!
