Personal Statement
My name is Abigail (Abbie) Tomblin, class of 2022. I attend South Central High School (Union Mills, IN). I stand 5 feet 9 inches tall. My primary positions for both my school and AAU travel team are point guard as well as shooting guard. At the early age of 4 years old, I started attending ball-handling classes with my older sister. Ever since then, basketball has undoubtedly been my passion.
For the second consecutive season, I earned a spot on the All-Porter County Conference team, as well as the All-County team. I was also selected to the 2019-20 WKVI All-Kankakee Valley area first team. I’ve led my team in assists and steals for the past two seasons. More importantly, this past season I helped lead my team to our second consecutive sectional win, eventually advancing all the way to the semi-state final. Above all else, this season has taught me how to overcome adversity, helping me become a leader on and off the court. Other than basketball, academics are also very important to me. I have always been a straight A student, earning a 4.1 GPA on a 4.0 scale last semester. Also, most of the classes I take are graded on an honors level curriculum. I am also a member of National Honor Society as well as Leadership LaPorte County.
Basketball. I cannot imagine life without it. So far, my career has been passing by very quickly. This is why I am not ready to end my basketball career any time soon, especially not in the next two years. I have been striving to play basketball at the collegiate level for many years now. Reflecting on my basketball career so far, I feel that this is only the beginning of what I am able to accomplish on the court.
