Personal Statement
Let me introduce myself, I am JeMae Nichols, Class of 2021. I attend Washington High School in Cherokee, Iowa. First and foremost, I am a student and then an athlete. I am compassionate about my studies/classes as well as achieving the highest grade standards possible. I believe my GPA and class rank speak to that. I am our class Representative to our School Districts Advisory Committee, as well as an active honor roll student, mentor and leader. I apply the same work ethic, principles and standards to my education that I do athletics.
I am a multi-sport athlete, participating in Volleyball, Basketball, Track and Softball. In my book, nothing quite compares to basketball. I started playing AAU Basketball in 2nd Grade; it was a tradeoff with my Dad so that I didn’t start out youth athletics playing padded football like I wanted to. I grew up with 5 older brothers so the competitiveness in our family runs deep, and I learned a lot from them at a young age. I’ve been told that for my age I have incredible “basketball IQ” in addition to my physical contributions to the game – speed, quickness, vertical, ball handling and wing span. I like playing offense and defense equally. I have tremendous pride in my continual commitment to Basketball and I look forward to finding the right school to continue my education as well as the right coaching staff, basketball family and program to help me turn into the next level player that will benefit both my team and me personally.
