My name is Madison Wauters and I have always been tall and have enjoyed it. Due to my rapid growth it took me until about the 7th grade to get accustomed to my body. I've always been athletic and have always been very competitive. Growing up I played football, kickball, wall ball or anything sports or ball related with the neighborhood kids from school. This and organized sports fed my competitive side and help hone my athleticism at a early age.
My whole goal in life is to do exceedingly well. I've always had the mindset that education is key to my future, therefore I'm very serious about my academics. I want to have a well paying job that allows me to enjoy life and gives me the security and freedom to enjoy life outside of work. When I was a little girl, I always had the aspiration of being a softball player because I was raised in Alabama and basketball was not as big as it is in the Midwest, Alabama was all about softball. I started playing softball when I was 6 and basketball at age 7. I played basketball in a small church league and enjoyed it as a filler between softball season which was most of the year in the South. I moved to Iowa the summer before my 6th grade year and started playing basketball more competitively. Between 7th-8th grade year is when really caught the basketball fever and started to play for club teams to sharpen my skills. After nearly 10 years of playing softball and playing at a high level, my freshman year I made the decision to focus on basketball and have lived and breathed it ever since.
In my opinion, I am a very coachable player and will respect what my coach says and will do the task to the best of my ability. I focus on being kind to my teammates no matter what the situation is because in basketball you can only succeed if you play together as a team. I also want to make a good bond with my teammates and help foster a team culture where all of my teammates feel valued and included no matter what happens on the floor. I realize that there is more to being on a basketball team than playing the game and I will always try to give the best effort and best example on and off the court in whatever role I fill. I strive for positivity in my life not negativity, so I take proactive steps to make it happen. We cannot wait for good things to happen to us, we have to go after them, pursue them with passion, and set ourselves up for success and that is why I am here. I want to play basketball at the next level, but I am not going to rely on teams to come to me, I am going to go after my goal and do everything that I can to reach it.
