Personal Statement
I started playing organized basketball when I was in the third grade, and as the years progressed I have come to love and appreciate the game. When I was in the fourth grade, I started training at a basketball training center in south Louisiana and from there I played on numerous AAU teams and played school ball in both elementary school and high school. In fact, our AAU team – Kenner Angels – just won the state championship this year in Division II. I just finished my junior year at Mount Carmel Academy (MCA). We won state during my sophomore year in Division 5A but fell short this past year, losing in the quarterfinal game. Approaching my senior year, I plan to start on varsity and look forward to my final year at MCA. I played both junior varsity and varsity at Mount Carmel during my 9th and 10th grade years and was voted MVP on Junior Varsity for both years; in addition I did see a lot of playing time on varsity during those two years. During my junior year, I just played Varisty and was "6th man" coming off the bench. I am very interested in continuing my basketball career at a small college where I can get an excellent education and also contribute a great deal to the basketball team. I have a 3.5 GPA at MCA and will be taking honors classes this coming year. In addition, I will be representing Mt. Carmel Academy throughout the year as a Student Ambassador and will also be serving as a Eucharistic Minister at all Masses. I have already started training (basketball and conditioning) for this upcoming season and am excited to begin my senior season with a brand new coach at MCA. Losing only one starter from last year, we should do well.
