Personal Statement
“The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather a lack in will,” Vince Lombardi. Anyone who expects to be good at something must be willing to endure whatever it takes in order to be successful. Since the age of eight I have been balancing everyday life, basketball, school, family and friends. Now that I am seventeen I balance the same schedule but at a much more stressful level. Everyday life has become hectic. School, basketball, softball, band, peer leadership, and my junior official/referee job have become my career. With those activities going on, family and friends sometimes feel compromised. The easiest thing to do in my situation would be to give up. Luckily for me giving up isn’t in my DNA.
I workout six days a week. I maintain a 4.0 GPA. If anyone asked my family and friends about me they would say that I am always there when they need me. When looking at some of my teammates and peers I realize that they don’t have the same results from life as me. This isn’t because I’m necessarily stronger or smarter than them. This is because I strive for the best at all times. My will power takes me above and beyond. The difference between my success and everyone else’s is that I perform excellence without any excuse.
