I've played basketball for eight consecutive years, including on varsity from 9th grade through the present, 12th grade.
Being a great basketball player starts with a decision to be your best and continually improve. I have always been determined and passionate throughout my life, especially in the sport of basketball. Coming into high school, I had many options on where I was able to attend school. I picked Colonel Zadok Magruder High in Rockville, Md. because my family and I felt highly that my strengths and contributions could better the girls basketball program given their previous history prior to my arrival. Before I attended the school, in the team's history, the team only had three wins, and twenty losses. My freshman year, we ended with a record of 500 (11-11). Sophomore year, during off-season, I trained like never before: I joined a gym, hired two professional, personal trainers, and had 2-a-day work-outs. As a result, we were state semi finalist with a record of 15-8. Next, my junior year, I maintained a 2.58, started working-out with the most athletic player on my team and her sister, a second-time All ACC player at a prestigious D-1 school, and I was later awarded the most improved player award. I started at the forward position and we won 14 games. Unfortunately, we fell short and were eliminated the second round of the playoffs. This year, my senior year, I now have a job that I've had nearly 1-yr. I mention the above to share that hard-work takes desire and effort, and with belief in myself, my team, consistency, a plan, diligence, support, faith and determination, I hope to lead my team to another run in the Maryland State championship this March.
This season, despite several major team set-backs, our record is currently 12/9 and I couldn't be more pleased.
I started playing basketball at age nine for fun, and at age 17, the fun has never ended!
Thank you for your time. I look forward to hearing from you.
