My name is Alexandria (Allie) Gorcyca and I am a 5’8” junior at Mercy High School. I am a multi-sport athlete who loves to compete and strives to be the best. However, my passion is basketball ever since I was introduced to the game at the age of 5 by my step-dad, a University Hall of Fame basketball player. I am a second year varsity starter. Last year I was named All-League in the Catholic League and All-Metro Honorable Mention for Michigan’s Top 100 Sportsmanship Award. I have played for two years for the Michigan Monarchs, the top ranked club in the state of Michigan.
No matter if I am on the court or in the classroom, I give 100% effort all the time. I have strong leadership qualities and completed The 21st Century Leadership Program and was elected as Class Secretary. Being a student athlete is very important to me. My goal is to go to a school that has the academic programs that I am interested in, a school environment where I can excel and an athletic department and coach that I can relate to.
In addition to basketball, I am also a starting, third year varsity soccer goalie and I helped my team win the District Championship for the first time in 10 years.
