Personal Statement
Before I had my heart set on basketball, I grew up on a farm with my three siblings. This helped me learn many things, for example to never give up, work hard, and be tough. One of the biggest ways that I learned these skills was threw 4-H and my dad’s instruction. My father taught me to learn how to be physically strong when I was walking my stubborn animals and getting them ready for fair. He helped me understand the benefits of controlling my emotions. Animals can sense feelings, so I had to learn self-control quickly. I never let the animal know that it was stronger than me even though most of the time it was. This mindset has transitioned to the court in being aggressive and scrappy, while maintaining a steady mindset.
I have also competed in a wide range of sports which has helped me grow as a person and an athlete. The sports I have participated in are gymnastics (6 years), cross country (7 years), track (3 years) soccer (1 year), softball (7 years), and basketball (5 years).
I love every aspect of the game of basketball including the long-lasting relationships and I am so grateful to be able to play. I like working hard not only to make myself better, but to make my teammates better as well. When I’m on the court I give it my all because I’m not just working for myself, but my teammates and ultimately the Lord. Currently, I attend Lenawee Christian School, but I would love to continue to grow my knowledge and skill sets at the collegiate level. I know that this will mean that I will need to keep up my grades. I have worked hard the last two years to keep a 4.0 GPA as well as going to states in cross country the last two years and in basketball last year.
Lastly, I have had the privilege to serve my community. I have done this by helping in the nursery and youth rooms at Ogden Church. I coach the third and fourth grade girls’ basketball team at my school. I also, help in our school’s concession stand.
