Personal Statement
I have been playing basketball competitively since I was five years old. Whether it was a church league, city league or at school, I've been around basketball all my life. It came natural to me early but as I grew older I realized how much work it takes to be the best. I want to pursue my lifelong dream of playing at the collegiate level.
I'm a point guard for my high school team but I have skills as a point guard or shooting guard. I'm a very coachable player with a high basketball IQ and I look forward to learning more from my teammates. I have been the starting point guard since the ninth grade and have become a leader on my team both by my actions and words.
I have also played select soccer since I was five but have recently decided to dedicate all my efforts to basketball. However, I feel that many of the skills that I have developed in select soccer will help me succeed as a college basketball player.
I have worked hard to maintain a high GPA and will be taking the ACT this fall. In my spare time I volunteer as a coach at basketball camps.
I want to attend a college where the basketball team has the same goals that I have. I want to be the best athlete and person I can be while contributing to the team's overall success while pursuing my goal of becoming a nurse. I am open to all options and will commit with all my heart to that program that matches my goals.
