Personal Statement
Dear Coach :
As I am on my way to becoming a college student and college athlete, I am most looking forward to living away from home and becoming more independent. I have an extremely close family and I am thankful for the ways they are teaching me to be self-sufficient and hard-working so it will not be such a shock when I am away from them attending school in a new city or living on a college campus in the dorms. Attending a college or university that will challenge me, but also help me grow is my goal. Playing college basketball while I am in school is my ultimate dream. I love being a working, contributing player on my basketball team. I value the relationships that I build with my coach and teammates. I have attended a college preparatory school since kindergarten. At the start of my of my 9th grade year, high school academics were extremely challenging for me. I am now in 11th grade and I am grateful for that struggle I felt in 9th and 10th grade because it taught me how to ask for help, how to realize my style of study and to learn study techniques that have helped me improve my grades tremendously. I am excited to enter my last year of high school and I see that each step is making me even more prepared to enter college and be successful. I plan on studying French, because after earning my undergraduate degree I plan on attending a graduate program in France. As a member of a high school athletics team I love playing the game of basketball. I think what sets me a part from other players is that I love equally being a part of the team and making that team dynamic work by communicating with my coach and teammates and practicing an unselfish style of playing basketball. Teamwork makes the dream work. And as I said before, playing college basketball is my ultimate dream.
Sincerely, Raven
