Personal Statement
My goals for my college search:
- I want rigorous academic opportunities that will teach me what it takes to be successful and allow me to pursue a medical vocation. I have participated in multiple sports such as basketball, volleyball, and track while taking AP/ Honors classes; like AP European History Combo and AP Biology, as I enjoy the extra challenge this presents. While difficult, I have found synergy between the academic and athletic components in my life and give one-hundred percent to both. It seems only fitting to continue this at the next level of education. I understand that basketball is not the "end all" for my life, and I am excited to see where my academics can take me. Nevertheless, I truly love the game of basketball and want to continue playing at a very competitive level.
- I want to play sports in college because I want to expand the leadership skills that I will learn and practice in the game, which I can apply to everyday life. Being 6' 1" since 6th grade and also being the coach's daughter has put me into the category of leader; on and off the court. I have found that I like this position and I am willing to accept the responsibility. Playing in college, I will gain new experiences that I can then take into my job, life, and family.
- I want to have fun and enjoy my friends and teammates that I encounter in college. The college that I am looking for needs to be diverse and enjoyable, with fun opportunities off the court. Having a family-like environment for myself and team, on and off the court is important to me. I would like to play tough competitive games with complete faith in my teammates the whole time, which I guess is the "holy grail" of basketball!
In closing, I hope to find a college that wants me in their program as much as I would like to be in their program. My long term goal is to pursue a degree in the medical field, so the academics offerred are very important. Thank you for your time in looking at my profile.
