Personal Statement
Hello my name is Mary. I am the starting center for the Capital High School varsity team in Helena, Montana. In 2015, my team became the AA state champions for the first time in program history. I started every game. A big part of our success came from everyone being team players and competing together instead of as individuals.
A few months after the 2015 high school season, I tore my acl at the 3 Stripes Tournament in Arizona. Through the process of getting better, I learned about dedication and hard work. It has made me appreciate the opportunity to be able to play, and I have realized how important basketball is to me. I started playing with my team again in January, and I moved back into the starting center position. After a rough start to the season, my high school team came in 4th at the State AA. Although basketball is a big part of my life, education is the priority in choosing the right school. I have a 4.0 GPA, and I am ranked 1/283. I try to take as many honors classes as I can while still participating in sports. For college, I hope to find the right balance of strong academics and a good basketball program.
