I started playing basketball when I was 5 years old in a league at the YMCA. I love the game of basketball whether I am playing it myself or watching some of my favorite players such as Skylur Diggins, Maya Moore and Moriah Jefferson on the court. I am committed to becoming the best basketball player I can be both on and off the court. Although I feel I was maybe blessed with some natural talent, I think that basketball players are made, not born. Not only do I work hard in the gym to refine my skills and become a better player, I feel it is important to be a leader on the court and be respected by your teammates. There is no "I" in team. Whether it is a win or a loss, I feel it is important to stay positive as a leader, give 100% at all times and motivate/inspire other teammates to continue to persevere.
I am a high goal setter and continue to work hard on achieving my goals both athletically and academically . I study hard in the classroom, whether it is for an algebra test or a basketball game. Both are very important. I think that any of my high school coaches or teachers will say, "Michaela Jones is a determined and hard working student athlete."
I am a multi-sport athlete. Yes, basketball is my love . However, I believe that soccer has made me a better basketball player, due to the foot work and body contact involved in soccer. Playing volleyball, basketball, soccer, and track has helped develop my overall athleticism, which is important in any sport.
I am excited about the recruiting process. I feel that I have the athletic ability , academic success, and strong character that a successful college basketball program is looking for and would want on their team.
