Personal Statement
I have had an extraordinary amount of learning experiences in my short 18 years on this earth. I'm not exactly sure what career path I will choose at this point , all I know is that I want my life to be about serving others. I want to help people be successful and believe in themselves. I want to be the person to guide others and help them believe in themselves, because those are the people in my life who got me to where I am. Academically, I'd like to graduate in the top 5 of my class and maintain a 4.0 throughout my Senior year. I have always been a very determined and passionate girl. When I set goals for myself, there is almost nothing that can stray me from achieving it. I am also very dedicated and do everything with a purpose. My optimism has been one thing in my high school career that has been very beneficial to my teams. I have an undeniable sense of leadership that I have come to use to my advantage on and off the court. I have had teammates tell me they look up to me and couldn't have done it without me. One of the best compliments though, was probably when one of my friends/teammate told me that because of me, she has a stronger faith.
My life has seemingly been a constant uphill battle which has not only made me mentally tough, but also given me the ability to be empathetic to all who I may encounter. What sets me apart from other candidates is the fact that whether I'm a Freshman or Senior, captain or non captain, I do not change the way I lead others. I am not afraid to hold my team accountable as well as be open about my faith. Granted we all have our struggles, but I have become very good at leaving my personal problems at home and setting school and sports apart. At the same time I know that my character is reflected in every situation no matter where I may be.
