Personal Statement
I love the game of basketball, I am a pretty good athlete, and I am competitive by nature. As a six-footer that runs and shoots well, basketball suits me. I have also earned multiple varsity letters in Soccer and Volleyball as well as 4 in basketball. I was named honorable mention all-state in soccer as a Freshman, as a Sophomore and Junior in basketball, and multiple all conference and all tournament teams in basketball.
I wouldn't have had these opportunities without hard work. I take private basketball lessons, work with a strength trainer, and work as hard as I can at each club and high school practice and camp.
Academics and community involvement are important to me as well. I have great role models in my family. My mom, dad and sister have six degrees between them - 5 from the University of Iowa and one from Drake University. They also volunteer their time on boards, and rolling up their sleeves for good projects. I have volunteered several places with my mom, am a member of the National Honor Society, and a good student. I don't know what I want to study yet, but I share this about me and my family because I know I want to attend a college with a solid track record for preparing students for post graduate study, and expects their athletes to be involved with the community.
To summarize, my aspiration is to play for a program that challenges me athletically and competitively, and for a program that wants its athletes to strive for their best in all areas of their lives.
