Personal Statement
My name is Sara Desso and I am senior at Central Dauphin East High School in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania where I play Varsity Basketball for the Lady Panthers. I am two sport athlete with my first love being basketball and the second sport I play is Varsity Soccer. I am a very hard worker and very dedicated to my team of any sport I play. Team work is a huge factor no matter what sport you play, and I am definitely a team player!
On the court, I’m a quick and agile basketball player with strong ball handling skills, soft hands, and a high basketball IQ. I play hard and hustle all over the court, I attack the rim, and I get after it defensively. I enjoy aggressive defense, fast tempo, and the thrill that comes from being tough and attacking the ball. Whether its high school basketball or AAU basketball, I try to lead by example while also encouraging my teammates, keeping the team’s energy up, and our minds focused. It is easy to say I’m a very coachable player and strive to be one of the hardest working players on the court.
The desire to elevate my court ability has driven me since the third grade when I started playing basketball in the CYO League and will continue until the last time I bounce a ball on the hardwood floor. To keep my court skills at a heighten level, I’ve attended various camps, shoot-outs and play AAU basketball during the high school off-season.
Off the court, I attack academics in a similar fashion. Being an athlete and playing competitive sports has giving me a strong foundation academically. Dedication, determination, and discipline are but a few important traits that has carried over and helped me be successful in the classroom. I’m always learning something new and adding it to what I already know. This knowledge has giving me the framework to excel in my future college studies and in life in general.
I know playing any sport at the collegiate level is a privilege and therefore I am willing to do whatever it takes to get there. Achieving success in sports and academics is not easy, but I’ve learned to create the necessary balance for school, sports, family and friends. Each part plays a key role in my life and by giving each attention, I’ve been able to find the balance to enjoy everything that life has to offer.
