Personal Statement
I absolutely love to play basketball. At every level, at any moment, with every opportunity, I want to go hard. I have played inside at the post against bigger players, moved the ball up and down the court in a pinch, and my outside shooting is pure. As I have moved through the different positions, I have mastered the playbooks from each vantage point. I am selfless and look for every opportunity to make my teammates better, capitalizing on individual and team strengths.
Coaches say that I am a dream player; that my talent and effort are only matched by my willingness to do whatever it takes. I have had double-doubles in consecutive games and scored in the single digits while defending a top opponent, each time serving my team at the discretion of my coach. My ego is in check as the end result is clearly a team dynamic.
My academic goals are lofty. I plan to matriculate at a university which offers a rigorous program in Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, or Finance either as an Engineering or a Business Program student. I believe that my academic success thus far has been as much a result of my intellectual capacity as it has been a partner to my athletic endeavors. The better a student I have been and the more diligent I was with my studies, the more I am able to enjoy competition on the basketball court. I have rarely felt burdened by either and I fully expect to continue this balance as an undergraduate student athlete.
