I'm a quirky, lively girl who loves to be in the thick of things, grinding through every day with my team. I have many aspirations and goals i set for myself, not just with basketball, but with academics and anything else i set my mind to. Education is the most important thing to further your mind and i take it very seriously. That being said, i still like to live life with an open head and heart. I would rather sit and watch a Yankee game, or be a goof with my family any day, but i understand the importance of academics and am responsible enough to get that project done on time, or study long enough to do good on that test. As with family, and in basketball, i'm a team player who will take initiative when my team is down. I will go through each day making sure no (wo)man is left behind. As for on the court, i take after one of my favorite quotes, "Offense gets the glory, but Defense wins the game." . This is something my mom has instilled in me from a young age and i don't plan on changing anytime soon. I will score when we need it, and when we don't, i'll give someone else a chance to. In my opinion, you go as hard as you can in a game, but with the right mind and attitude, showing respect to the other players, coaches and especially the refs. There is no use arguing calls because the call won't change, and the game won't stop for you. All you can do is try to understand why they called it, and hop right back in the game.
I want to be a leader, not just on a team, but for my whole live. I already have two little sisters who look up to me, and i love being that role model for them. Whatever i do in my life, i want to set a good example for people to follow. The more people i can touch, the better. I hope that after they meet me, they know what it means to have respect for others, and themselves. Teach them to be strong and unwavering in their faiths and beliefs. Show them that "Happiness can be found in even the darkest of times, if only one remembers to turn on the light.".
I know i have a long life ahead of me that will be filled with challenges, and some have already come, but i know that whats in store is way better than what's already happened, and i'm ready for it. I'm ready for the pain, the heartbreaks, but also for the good days when the sun is just a bit brighter and the happiness never goes away. The possibilities are endless but for now, i'm content with drinking my coffee in the morning, going to school with my friends, and lacing up my old sneakers to find insects for my bug project. :)
