My name is Carlee Kilgus and I am a 5’8” senior at South Fayette High School. I love the game of basketball and I work extremely hard and push myself to do my very best as both a player and teammate. As serious as I take basketball, I make my academics an even higher priority. My hard work and dedication on the court leads into my hard work and dedication in the classroom. I have an overall GPA of 4.1 out of 4.0, which has placed me on my school’s highest honor roll.
So far this basketball season we won our Class 5A section title with a 9-1 record (15-4 overall) and are ranked one of the top teams in WPIAL 5A. Coming off of my foot injury last season, I am the lone senior on our team this year and stepping up to be our leader. We are currently 2 - 0 in the PIAA Class 5A state playoffs and are scheduled to play Oakland Catholic on Saturday March 18, 2017. I am currently averaging 10 points per game during our WPIAL and PIAA playoff run.
Over the past six years I have played on the same elite AAU team. We have played in numerous local and national tournaments. The last tournament we played was in July 2015 at the USJN in Washington D.C. We won the championship 17U bracket overall record of 8 - 0 in the tournament. In 2016 I played again for the Western PA Bruins Elite team and we had many successful tournaments
When I am not playing basketball, I have been a 4 year starter on the varsity volleyball team. Outside of athletics, I am involved with the children’s ministry at my church where my faith has played a major role in the person I am today. I love taking time to visit a local veteran’s home where we take ice cream and talk with the men and women who have served our country. I also have several babysitting jobs in my neighborhood where I get to spend time with the kids and even teach them a thing or two about basketball.
I believe that what I have learned on and off the court has been preparing me for my future after high school in becoming a successful student-athlete at the college level.
