I would love the opportunity to be considered at the collegiate level. TEAM means FAMILY and it takes a village to get through life.
Basketball has helped me achieve many great traits to grow as an exceptional individual in the classroom, family life, as well as on the court. By building a strong foundation for myself, I am determined to succeed as a student-athlete, and I am fortunate to have an additional outlet to the college level, so that I may pursue my dreams in forensics.
Talent can be considered a naturally acquired skill; however, without heart, there is no growth. Success is a result of hard work. I strive every day to become a better problem-solver, leader to my peers and teammates, and remain positive as I move towards my goals and aspirations as a student-athlete.
My strengths consist of quick footwork which contributes to good defense and offensively, beating the defense with my first step. I do not allow my height to limit my abilities in the paint. I have quick hands and will challenge any player on a rebound. Although I am naturally right-handed, I am very comfortable handling the ball in my left hand as well. I look to my post players for the high percentage shot. I am unselfish, as I am always looking for the open man...the ball gets down the court faster with passes!
This past 17-18 season I was faced with unfortunate circumstances...I dealt with ingrown toe nails on both feet. In the meantime, due to overcompensating, I acquired a stress fracture in my 5th metatarsal. However, I was not made aware of this until I got a second opinion...in which I was told I had been playing on a broken foot for 6-8 weeks! X-rays showed the break, the healing, and then another break. My teammates had no idea what kind of pain I was going through until I just couldn’t walk anymore. I pushed through (unfortunately because of bad professional advise). My season ended in January, and I have taken time to recover. Needless to say, I did not accomplish my basketball goals during my Junior season BUT the adversity forced me to focus on my academics and has allowed me to be an intern in my field of interest. I am not a quitter! As of June, I am back on the court and training hard. I am looking forward to a successful senior year, and I hope to be meeting my future college coach very soon!
Thank you for your interest, and I look forward to continuing my pursuit in experiencing new adventures as a basketball player!
