Personal Statement
I am a 5' 11" women's basketball player who is not afraid to get my hands dirty. Most girls that play against me don't like me because I love to play physical and I will wear you out going after rebounds. I was voted captian of my varsity team as a sophomore because of my leadership and willingness to do anything to win. My teammates respect me because they know if I am being doubled or denied I will be willing to set screens, rebound, defend and do anything else that the papers don't cover to help us win. Basketball has taught me the importance of being a team. We were defeated in the regions my freshman year with a very talented team. The loss made us all hungry for more and we made it to the state tournament the following year with less talent but a better team with better leaders. I was honored to be one of those leaders. It was a lesson I won't forget and I know it applies directly to my life as well.
I want to pursue a career in nursing and I have taken my studies very seriously to help achieve this. My competitive nature makes we want to end my high school career in the lead academically as well as in sports. I am currently ranked number 1 in my class with a 4.0 and I work very hard to maintain it each semester. My faith, my family, my studies and my basketball game all have their place in my life and each part of them makes me a well rounded person that any coach and program will love to have.
