Personal Statement
Hi, I am Mattie Bryant!
I started playing Upward basketball in kindergarten and have continued my career since. I genuinely enjoy basketball not only because I am naturally drawn to sports and games, but because I love the close-knit team relationship. I love bonding with my teammates and sharing a common interest with them--playing basketball together. I try my best to lead, challenge, and encourage my teammates on and off the court, and I believe that playing basketball has shaped me to be a stronger, more driven individual. I am a three-sport student athlete (I also play soccer and tennis), and thus I have learned the art of time management and commitment. For instance, when I began to have tennis practice after school, I asked my high school coach to open the gym before school so I could still shoot--thank you, Coach Potts!
I also have a weird affection for academics; I hope to pass all my AP exams, up my ACT score to a 34, and make the top ten in high school. In college, I aspire to achieve at least a bachelor's degree in (most likely) engineering, law, or science. Some odd and not-so-odd activities I enjoy include juggling, playing video games, reading and writing, petting my cat, Gerald, and eating ice cream. I consider myself to be a light-hearted, quirky person, but also someone that is understanding and compassionate. I am blessed to have two amazing parents that would (hypothetically) travel to Africa and bring me my toothbrush if I forgot it; that's how much they love and care about me. I go to First Baptist Church of Morristown and enjoy spending time with my youth group as well as serving others.
