Hi, my name is Michayla Wiggs. I would love to tell you why i would love to play basketball for college. I would love to play for college because i love the game. I'm pretty sure plenty of the student athletes say this but to me it's more than a game , It's a passion, It's life, Ambition, It's that special something that makes me keep going, Something that makes me strive to be the best that i can be, It's the kick in my blood that makes my adrenaline rush through my body and mind giving me goose bumps before the game even starts. Basketball is something i can't stop playing because i love it. I started basketball when i first laid eyes on a ball and held it for the first time, Ever since then i strive harder and harder to gain and experience more skills throughout the years. Team after teams that i have been on , I always thought of them as family and when we get on that court our team chemistry reacts and we support each other no matter the ups and downs. I experienced a road that not many people have experienced. I got injured on June 23, 2013. During a AAU tournament at San Antonio i jumped to get a rebound and landed wrong tearing my ACL and both my Miniscus. Such an injury has changed my life forever . I admit it , i was depressed during the surgery times but i decided to put my smile and game face on and say to myself everyday " This injury is not going to stop me from playing what i love! ". I did Physical therapy everyday for 9 months causing me to miss my whole Junior year Season. When i was still doing rehab i would go watch and support my team from the bench. I experienced what it was like in the coaches point of view and how my team plays. I gave my team a pep talk every game to get them hype and energized to play. No matter the outcome we still stood strong as a team and as a family. I will always be a proud leader of my team and help them with anything no matter what . I was also elected in my art class for the National Art Honors Society which proves my leadership characteristics . I am a proud member and will continue gaining my leadership skills with it. I also keep my grades up in order to play , I am a student athlete after all. The characteristics that i have is ambition, Leadership, Sportsmanship, and being a Perfectionist at times . My goals and aspirations is to keep going and standing strong because when you get to college everything changes , new experiences, new teachers, new coaches, and new players. I wish to continue playing until i cannot play anymore .These are the reasons why i would love to play college basketball.
Update: I recently tore my ACL and both my miniscus in my other knee causing me to miss part of my senior year in basketball , although it hurt to end my season getting injured once again , this injury will help be become stronger for college , I will continue my path in basketball and over come these setbacks with rehabilitation once again!
