Abigail Hopper '15 Recruiting Profile

My name is Abigail Hopper, and my nickname is Abby. I live in Lubbock, Texas where I have lived my whole life. Going somewhere out of Lubbock or even out of state is ideal because I think the adventure and experience that comes along with it would be something to remember. I have two sisters, one that is 19 and another that is 9. Family is very important to me because I have been blessed with one of the most supportive families any girl could ask for. One of my biggest characteristics is that I am a fierce competitor not only on the court, but on. I always strive to be the best that I can be in every aspect of my life.
My high school career started out at Coronado High School where I made the varsity team both my freshman and sophomore year. On that team, my freshman year we went all the way to the Texas 4-A regional semifinals, followed my going to the regional finals my sophomore year. Both years we fell short to Duncanville. I then transferred to Frenship High School where I made the varsity team. I received the Texas 4- A All State team, First Team All District, 2014 Newcomer of the year, and the All City team. This past season I received the following awards from Frenship High school- leading scorer, leading rebounder, and most assists. My goal for my senior year is to go out with a bang and reach the highest potential that I can play at.
Academics is something that I have always been taught to excel and do the best that I can. I have always taken honors as well as advance placement courses. My GPA is a 96.6% and I am 81 out of a student body of 474. I am currently enrolled in duel-credit classes through South Plains College. My goal is to graduate with a degree that will pave the way for a successful career. I have received rewards such as the Who’s Who award, both years at Coronado. I was one of six students out of 525 students selected for this award. I am an active member in the National Honor Society, and I believe that volunteering and giving back to the community is one of the most important things you can do.
My strengths that I bring to any team is a fierce competitive spirit and determination. I’m very coachable and I know that I haven’t reached my full potential yet, there is more to learn everyday both on and off the court. I believe that the team is before me, always. Team chemistry and being a team player is a huge part of a team’s success. Even though I am 6’1, I can handle the ball well under pressure, shoot three pointers, pass well, and I have experienced court sense. I believe this separates me from every other tall girl playing basketball, and makes me an asset to any team.
