Personal Statement
My passion is basketball, and I have been playing it since I was six years old. One of the highlights of my career was starting on my high school varsity team at the point guard position as a freshman. This past year as a sophomore, I was chosen as one of the captains of the team. Six years of playing AAU travel basketball has given me the knowledge and experience to have success at the high school level. People may see my height as a disadvantage, but it has made me play harder and develop a better work ethic not just in basketball, but in everything I do. As a three sport letterman in basketball, volleyball and track, an active member in FCCLA and an A/B honor roll student, I am a well rounded person able to excel in multiple areas of life.
Not only do I have goal to play basketball in college, but I also have a goal to be the best role model I can for my younger sister and all other young children. This past summer when I volunteered at my high school youth camp, I realize how much these young athletes look up to me and what a positive impact I can have on them. In the coming year, I plan to coach young children in both volleyball and basketball so I can help them learn and achieve their goals of becoming better players.
