Personal Statement

I would like to attend a college or university with very competitive academic standards.  I currently balance a rigorous academic load (morning at Governors School for Sciences and Math and afternoons of AP courses at the HS) with participation on our high schools strong volleyball and basketball teams.  I continue to play basketball through the spring and summer with an elite travel team.

On the basketball court, I am a leader and bring energy to our practices and games.  I have been selected as a Captain for my HS team for my upcoming Junior season.  I was also  a Captain on my HS volleyball team as a Sophomore.  I believe that my teammates on both teams regard me as a player that maintains a very positive attitude and approach through good times and adversity.

Although I am a point guard for my HS team, I prefer playing off the point, which is where I play in travel ball.  I am an effective scorer, defensive contributor, rebounder and playmaker.  I honestly get more joy from dishing out assists than scoring.  I also get far more joy from my teams accomplishments than individual accolades and awards.  Of all the input and feedback that I have received from my coaches, I am proudest that I have been told often that I am a player that makes my teammates better.  I am very pleased to see my teammates succeed.

I love playing basketball and I am very excited about the prospect of continuing to play at the college level.  I hope I am the kind of player that you will consider for your program!

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
