Personal Statement
High school basketball is one of the biggest blessings life has brought to me. It has blessed me with great friends, coaches, and life skills that will follow me far off the court. My high school story began in a regular summer league when I was asked to suit up and begin playing varsity. It was an immediate fit. The year however, brought many unexpected obstacles. I walked into high school with a brand new coaching staff, they were expected to turn a below average team into a winning program, and when the year started, it looked like they were going to make it happen. Unfortunately 3 of our 5 starters went down to ACL tears leaving two starters left, which included me and a fellow freshman. The devastating injuries of my teammates forced me to become an instant leader on the court and demonstrate what a hard working student athlete is. It was my freshman season where I was forced to stand up and take leadership of upperclassmen, demonstrate hard work and persistence and never quitting even when things seemed like they were falling apart. My freshman season would form my sophomore and junior season as we would win conference back to back years.
