My name is Annika M Baeten, and I am currently a Junior in high school. I will be graduating Ashwaubenon High School in Green Bay WI in 2016. Over the summer of 2014 I played for the 16U Green Bay Purple Aces. I also played in the Junior Showcase tournament for our 17U team traveling through Wisconsin, Minnesota and Illinois. I have my 2015 AAU summer schedule listed, the main tournaments we are playing in as follows. We plan on being at the Nike Tournament of Champions July, (college viewing period) in Chicago Illinois. Also the Minnesota Meltdown July, in Minneapolis, along with other tournaments in Milwaukee WI, Iowa, and possibly Ohio. Last year I was the starting Varsity point guard as a sophomore. Freshman year I was 6th or 7th Varsity player depending on game needs, typically I came in at about the 3-4 minute mark and played until the end averaging well over 20 minutes and always on the floor when game was on the line.
This year we had a new head coach. Our record improved to 10-13 and we were made up of just 3 seniors. I was named the team MVP and I was also named as a captain for next year. I also earned all conference honors. I was named honorable mention all conference and all conference defensive team. This year was also the first year that our conference voted on an all defensive team.
I Also had a great track season my freshman year. I broke the schools 400m dash record and ran a 58.8 second 400. My 4x4 team also broke our school record and ran a 4:03. I personally made it to state in the 400m dash and my 4x4 team made it to state also. Recently I have just completed my sophomore year with a GPA of 3.96/4.
2014 was a tough decision, as I had a very bad concussion closing out basketball season and track season did not develop into what I had hoped. In addition my track coach told me he wanted me to quit Basketball and only do track, I tried to explain I use track to condition for basketball and he would have none of it. So that was very disappointing coming off an injury and a great freshman track season. Also as a freshman I was varsity in golf, as player 2, I currently only golf for fun with my dad and am about 14 handicap from the men’s tees. Thank you for reading my updated profile.
My goal over the next few years is to help my varsity and AAU team achieve continued growth, achievement, camaraderie, and sportsmanship, resulting in more successful seasons on and off the court. After high school I would love to be competing with a team where I can make an immediate impact both on and off the court. While helping in the community that would be my new home, on campus, and on the court. To study and attain a degree, at a school where I currently am looking into Pre-Med, Biology, and Biological Engineering.
Thank you.
