It is no secret that I love sports and the idea of competing. Sports has taught, and continues to teach me about sportsmanship, team play, hard work, courage, and the need to get up after you have been knocked down. During my senior year, I decided to take a leap and try something new...I tried out for the boys football team. With my background in soccer, I knew that I could be of value as a place kicker. I competed for a spot and was awarded the opportunity. I was fortunate that my team accepted me and appreciated what I brought to the field. However, there were times that the opposing teams and fans did not think that it was appropriate for me to be on the field. Instead of letting this bother me, it gave me more motivation to kick farther and to prove them wrong. What I learned from this experience is that I can do anything I set my mind to achieve no matter what the situation. I have challenged myself in my academics in taking AP courses that have known to be the toughest in the school. The course work stretched me as an individual and helped me realize the importance of having a game plan and working towards my goals. In college, I would like to explore a career in physical therapy and show my talents on the basketball court.
