Personal Statement

I began diving 1m seasonally at age eleven, year round at age 14.  I began diving 3m at age 15.  Prior to taking diving lessons, I spent nine and a half years in gymnastics with seven of those years competing in AAU and USA Gymnastics meets.  As an accomplished gymnast, I reached level 8, before taking my love of tumbling and the water, and combining them into the sport I love today, diving.  Upon attending Mariner High School my freshman year, I was informed that the school did not have a dive team and/or coach.  Providing that I supplied my own coach and trained on my own time, I could dive for my high school.  So, I did just that!  In season, I commute 4-6 days a week, to a club coach that is approximately one hour away from home.

As a freshman, I was the Lee County All Conference dive champion.  I went on to place 14th place at States.  As a sophomore, I returned to States, this time placing 8th. This year as a junior I placed 2nd at states.  My freshman, sophomore and junior year, I was MVP for my swim and dive team.  My goal is to place 1st at states my senior year.  In order to do this, I know that it requires hard work, commitment, and sacrifice, that I am willing to do, to reach my goal.  I have a ‘diving bucket list’, that I have come up with for myself, which lists the dives that I want to achieve by next season.  My ultimate goal is to dive in college.   Being fairly new to the sport, there is no concern for burn-out.  I am still excited to dive, to learn new dives and excel in the sport.  I can’t wait to see what college diving has in store for me.

In addition to my diving commitment, I also swim.  I ran varsity track for my school my freshman and sophomore year.  In December of 2015 I began working a part-time job.  Between school, diving and work, I was unable to run track my junior year.  All the while, I take honors and AP courses, and currently have a 4.76 weighted GPA.  When I am not busy with sports and school work I enjoying volunteering, just being a kid and making homemade ice cream.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
