Emma Martinez '23 Recruiting Profile

I first started playing golf at 14 in my freshman year of high school. The summer of 2021 I first began taking lessons and taking golf more serious. These past months since I have spent four days a week working on my golf game and I am proud that I have gone from hitting in the 60s to a low 40s average on nine holes but I still continue to improve and work on every aspect of my game to be a well rounded player. I am currently dual enrolled in four college classes at the local community college and three high school classes. I am on track to graduate from high school with an associates in general studies. I have learned a lot about the importance of time management, organization and balance in life.  I have been a participant of 4-H for about 7 years showing swine with many wins throughout the years but from that have come many losses and I have learned from that and it has played a major role in my everyday life regarding responsibility, practical life skills, confidence, independence and how to learn from a loss and how grow from it. I have also, played soccer for about 10 years with the city and was on a travel team for one year from which I have learned leadership skills and teamwork. This past year my passion for golf has grown and being able to compete at a college level has become a dream and hopefully one I will be able to achieve.
