To Whom It May Concern,

When she joined the Monte Vista golf team, Hailey White brought a stronger combination of talent and motivation than any other player I've come across in eight seasons of coaching. Her whole game is impressive. She has a well-built, controlled golf swing, no fewer than four different types of pitch and chip shots that allow her to scramble from anywhere, as well as a solid putting routine. Most importantly, she knows her game. This is a very rare trait in a high school golfer. Hailey is aware of the mechanics of her swing and is able to correct things mid-round if necessary. She knows the shots that she is weak on and puts the time in to correct them.

I was amazed by Hailey's play when she joined the team, but I have been even more impressed by her work ethic and resulting improvement since then. Rarely does a day go by when she is not at the range or out on the course. Hailey isn't content to just hit a club well; she wants to be able to hit it well six different ways. I've never been able to outscore her, but now, I'm lucky if I can even outdrive her.

Finally, Hailey has proven herself to be an excellent team member. In an individual-centered game like golf, you run into a lot of players (especially talented ones) who are terrible teammates. Hailey is the opposite. Whether she is playing with someone shooting 70 or 130, she is kind, patient, and never gets put off her own game. Over the past two seasons, she has earned the right to play in the number one spot for Monte Vista for every match, but I know that I can pair her with anyone she will still score well and the other player will probably play better as a result.

It has been a privilege to be Hailey's coach. I can't wait to see where her game goes from here.

MORE ABOUT ME

I am a sophomore at Monte Vista High School at 3131 Stone Valley road, Danville, CA. 94526 and my current GPA is a 3.3 with much better grades in store next year! I hope to attend a good college and play division 1 golf. My goal is to compete at an extremely high level and contribute not only low scores to the team, but be a team player who values the time spent with teammates and the friendships surely created along the way.

I have been playing golf since 4 years old and I am extremely driven to finish competing successfully in high school so that I may earn a spot on a division 1 college team, but my main priority is my education and being able to conduct myself in an intelligent manner both on and off the course.

One of my passions is working at the church and providing service for their many philanthropic events. I recently waitressed for the church for a fundraiser and although it was hard work, it was very fulfilling and I felt like I made a difference.

I am currently starting a golf club at our school that will fundamentally exist to donate time and equipment to junior golfers and golf programs to kids who don't have the resources to experience all that I have been so blessed to have experienced through this wonderful sport.

My hobbies include bicycling, and designing my own clothing using items that I kind of refurbish from the thrift store. I really love seeing the old clothes come to life again.

I have played in well over 150 tournaments since I started competing at age 6. I have qualified for the Callaway Junior World tournament twice, qualified for the Junior and Teen world tournaments for five years and placed third at Pine Needles golf course for the 2012 event, firing 75, 72, 76. My main focus has been to help lead my high school team and our team went farther than they have in ten years this year, making it to the NCS sectionals at Peacock Gap in Marin, CA. I shot a disappointing 75, after firing a 68 in the practice round. That is what is so great about the game; you know you love it when you just want to come back after a bad round and do it again and again!

I earned the player of the year award in middle school and the athlete of the month in High School a couple of times, but one of my best memories was playing in the California Women's State Amateur at Quail Lodge, where I made it to the semifinals after beating opponents Meghan Kim of University of Michigan and Madison Hirsch of Cal Poly to then face Tiffany Lim in the quarterfinals. I shot even par on the front nine and almost as well on the back and still lost 3-2. The experience playing an Ivy League Rookie of the year recipient was priceless!

Thanks you so much for your consideration!

Best Wishes,

Hailey
