Golf is so much more than a game to me. I have learned more about myself through the game of golf than any other aspect of my life. Golf is not only a game that I love to play but an outlet through which I can glorify God. My relationship with Christ and my faith always take first place in my heart. I strive to glorify God through my actions on and off the golf course. My integrity dictates my decisions on the course and I am never willing to compromise my character for a score, no matter what the consequence may be.
With that said, I truly feel that I was born to compete, and I thrive in high pressure situations. I love the feeling of satisfaction of performing well when everything is at stake. I have been playing a sport for as long as I can remember, and while athletics have and always been a huge part of my life, they will always be something I do and not who I am. This is why I am resilient on the course and am able to come back even after having a bad shot, bad start or bad day.
In many ways my academics mirror my athletics. I strive to do my best at everything, and when I fall short it is not something that I take lightly. I look at each of the areas where I could have done better and immediately work on improving them. I work extremely hard in school and golf because there is always room for improvement, and I love learning from past mistakes to prevent the same thing from happening in the future.
I have been a part of a team since I was four years old so I have a lot of experience being on a team and being a team player. When I make a commitment, I stick to it and I always give 100%. I thrive when I am around people who push me to do better, and I am willing to sacrifice for others. One of the most fullfilling things I do is having the opportunity to serve those in my community who need help. Serving and sacrificing for others brings more fulfillment to me than all my personal achievements combined. I love giving back and serving those who are less fortunate. It helps me to remember what is important, how incredibly blessed I am and to always work diligently whatever task is at hand. Serving others is a lot like being a part of a team. Sometimes you have to put the needs of others before your own and working together always produces greater results than working alone. I am excited to enter this next phase of my life and cannot wait to see what God has in store for me.
