Personal Statement
I picked up my clubs going into freshman year. I worked diligently through the summer on the range and played as many rounds as I could. When I first entered high school I was offered a spot on varsity. I was excited because I felt that I had earned that position. Towards the last part of the season another girl improved and earned my spot. I had time to reflect on this experience and I thought back at a story one of my coaches once told me about Michael Jordan. He said that Michael Jordan was cut from his freshman basketball team and Michael vowed that would never happen again. I took the same approach and worked harder than ever before.
I spent several hours on the range and course daily. I went to more tournaments than ever been to before and eventually I saw my average lower. My sophomore year I earned the first spot on the team and never looked back. I was the youngest to make it to the California Regionals from my high school and I had a great season. This year I have started off strong and I am continuously seeing improvement. I feel that having the opportunity to play college golf will help me grow as a driven female, student athlete and I will be able to learn lessons in life. I know that my positive mental attitude and the drive to succeed will benefit the team and myself at the next level.
