Emma Kang '23 Recruiting Profile

Hi Coaches!

I will earn a D1 scholarship to play collegiate golf.  I will earn a spot in the starting line-up at each competition and proudly represent my university.  I will be a contributing member of my team and make sure we reach our goals and even surpass them. 

I embrace the team environment.  I value team comradery,  cheering/supporting my teammates through the good and challenging times and placing a smile on my coach’s face.  When the team wins then I will be able to celebrate with them.  When we experience setbacks I will turn a negative situation into a positive one by focusing on what we learned as a team and to better prepare ourselves as we move forward to the next competition.   My composure on the course, my competiveness, and my passion for the game of golf will be infused into my teammates. 

I am not a follower but I am independently responsible for my decisions, actions, and demeanor.  My protective instincts will kick in overdrive when my coach, teammates, and/or my university are involved.  I enjoy the rigors of my workout regimen and I will continue to get stronger and build on my endurance to outlast the competition.  Nothing is guaranteed with golf in college or in the future, that is why I will be just as determined in the classroom to obtain my degree for a career outside of golf. 

Coaches, golf has not been a smooth ride and actually it’s been quite bumpy.  I am constantly seeking the perfect swing and that has been the problem.  I have recently simplified my swing and getting my sequence in order.  My results are gradually improving along with my confidence level.  My power game is my strength but I have to get better by incorporating my finesse approach to be a better golfer. 

I have no idea how far I can go in the game of golf and I know I have not tapped into my full potential but that is what I strive for when I am on the course.  It will be fun and I look forward to the challenge.  In the meantime I continue to work hard everyday and end it with a mindset of “no regrets”.
